Libby's Poem What If

What If
by Libby Peter

What if the world could talk?
What if every tree, leaf, stone, bird, rock, pebble, every dirt road,
every sunrise . . .and sunset
How many stories could they tell?
How much history has the world seen?
Did you know that a piece of dust can travel from Africa to Florida?
Imagine all the history, stories, experiences.
If everything in the world could talk what would they say?
What would they change?
In a way . . . they can.
Next time you go out, listen to the song of the woods -
from the birds to the wind to the water.
Imagine all the histories, stories,
 experiences.
But it is sad to think that slowly and surely, it is going away.
And it seems not enough people care. They keep cutting down trees . . . polluting the world, the water, and the woods.
If every one cared, maybe violence and pollution could come extinct. Instead of animals becoming extinct just think what if
What would history be with peace instead of war.
What if the world could be happier, more enjoyable, maybe more people would have holiday cheer, and maybe people could learn to understand other people.

Just think, what if?
